Asus Zenfone 3 to sport USB Type C port, confirms CEO


Asus has been launching a slew of Zenfone 2 series of devices this year! However it seems that Asus is already working on the next generation of Zenfone device in the background. In fact it is already official that the next generation of Zenfone will come with a USB Type C port.

Asus CEO, Jonney Shih apparently confirmed that in an exclusive interview with Trusted Reviews. "I think Type-C is the way to go, frankly speaking. You will see the answer when you see the ZenFone 3," stated Shih. However he was careful enough to not leak out any further information regarding their upcoming devices.

Going by the launch trends of the Zenfone and Zenfone 2 lineup you can expect the Zenfone 3 series to hit the market in the first quarter of 2016. In fact analysts at Gizbot believe that the Taiwanese manufactures might decide to launch the 3rd gen of Zen lineup at the MWC next year.

As of now a select few smartphone available in the market come with USB Type C port - OnePlus 2, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Microsoft Lumia 950, and 950 XL. However the LeTV Le1 was the first device to feature the latest gen USB port.

Nevertheless it would be interesting to see whether Asus plans to include the USB Type C port into their budget devices i.e. those price blow Rs 10,000.
