Alleged BlackBerry Athena renders hint at QWERTY keypad and dual cameras
BlackBerry Athena could be the next QWERTY phone in the making.
BlackBerry Athena was spotted on Geekbench benchmarking database, European device registration database and configuration files in February revealing some details. Now, the first look of the smartphone has emerged online and it is likely that this smartphone could be launched later this year. This leak gives us an idea of how the smartphone would look like.
The first look of the BlackBerry Athena spotted on Slashleaks shows that there could be a typical QWERTY keypad on the smartphone similar to the previous ones such as the KEYone, which was launched in early 2017. Also, the smartphone appears to feature a rectangular slab design. Adhering to the current trend, this BlackBerry smartphone seems to flaunt a dual-camera setup too.
The bottom of the smartphone seems to feature only the dedicated QWERTY keypad. We can expect the same to be touch-sensitive as the BlackBerry KEYone. Moving on to the rear, the smartphone seems to feature a signature rugged texture, which is seen on the BlackBerry smartphones and it is quite familiar as well. The dual cameras are arranged horizontally at the top left of the rear panel and the LED flash unit is positioned next to it.
Though the recent leak does not reveal anything regarding the specifications of the alleged BlackBerry Athena smartphone, the previous reports have already done their part in speculating the same. Going by earlier reports, the BlackBerry Athena is likely to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. This processor is said to be teamed up with 8GB RAM. Another variant of the smartphone is said to arrive with 6GB RAM too.
However, there is no concrete evidence or official confirmation regarding the BlackBerry Athena smartphone and we should take it with a grain of salt until then. Besides the BlackBerry Athena, the company is also speculated to be working on other smartphones such as BlackBerry Luna and BlackBerry Uni. And, there is no confirmation from the company regarding any of these smartphones for now. Also, one of the recent reports hinted that the BlackBerry Ghost Pro could be a bezel-less smartphone coming soon to India.
