Caviar Unveils A $12,000 Holiday Gift That Hides A Gold iPhone Inside A Chocolate Egg
If you’ve followed Caviar for a while, you already know the brand isn’t interested in practicality. Its latest concept, called Billionaire’s Surprise, leans even further into spectacle. It’s a limited holiday gift set that pairs a custom gold smartphone with a literal chocolate egg, and the whole point is not knowing what phone you’re getting until the very end.

The price starts at $12,000. Only three units will be made worldwide.
A Chocolate Egg That Hides A Phone, Literally
The centerpiece of the set is a large, handcrafted chocolate egg made from Belgian chocolate, filled with whole Trebizond hazelnuts, and finished with an edible gold coating. This isn’t just for show. Inside the egg is a solid gold key.

Crack the egg open, find the key, and use it to unlock a separate case. That’s where the phone is. The device itself comes from Caviar’s Gold Collection and is customized in advance, usually an iPhone, but the exact model stays hidden until the unboxing is complete.
You’re not meant to peek early. The suspense is part of the product.
The Experience Is The Product
Caviar frames Billionaire’s Surprise as more of a ritual than a purchase. The company says the anticipation and reveal matter more than the hardware itself. You’re buying into the moment, not just the materials.
The packaging reflects that idea. Everything comes wrapped in dark blue, heavily constructed boxes with textured finishes that feel deliberately overbuilt. Inside, you get the chocolate egg, the gold key, the custom phone, and Caviar’s usual presentation elements designed to slow the process down.
The phone model is selected ahead of time, but the experience is designed so the recipient doesn’t know what they’re getting until the very last step.
Limited Even By Luxury Standards
Caviar says the chocolate eggs are not mass-produced, and only three Billionaire’s Surprise sets will exist globally. The $12,000 starting price covers the entire package, though the final cost can rise depending on the phone chosen for customization.
This is also a first for the brand. While Caviar is known for gold-plated gadgets and luxury smartphones, this marks its first attempt at combining gourmet food and consumer tech into a single collectible gift.
Part Of A Bigger Pattern
The launch follows a string of other high-priced releases from Caviar, including its Secret Love iPhone 17 Pro collection starting at $10,200, and what the company calls its lightest gold iPhone so far, priced at $38,930.
