CES 2018: TCL unveils Alcatel 1X, Alcatel 3V and Alcatel 5 smartphones with interesting features
TCL didn't reveal any specific details like the specifications of the three new smartphones but the company has given away the key highlights of the smartphones.
We have seen and heard rumors as well as leaks about Alcatel's upcoming smartphones for 2018. And now it seems we finally have the official word from the company itself. Alcatel, owned by Finnish consumer electronics company Nokia and used under license by Chinese electronics company TCL Corporation has made some interesting announcements at CES 2018.
As such the company has announced three new smartphones models - Alcatel 1X, Alcatel 3V, and Alcatel 5 that will be coming to the market soon. However, at the event, TCL owned brand didn't reveal any specific details like the specifications of the three new smartphones but the company did give away the key highlights of the smartphones.
The new Alcatel smartphone models will reportedly feature TCL-made full-screen displays with an 18:9 aspect ratio. These smartphones have also been specifically designed for mid and entry-level price points.
"By modernizing our smartphone designs and being one of the first global manufacturers to offer 18:9 full view displays across the majority of our lineup, we're able to refocus our efforts at democratizing flagship style features and making these experiences accessible to almost any consumer worldwide," said Christian Gatti, Global President Alcatel Business Division and Executive Vice President TCL Communication, in a press statement.
Alcatel 1X
Alcatel 1X as claimed by the company will be the "best in affordability". The smartphone will feature a unibody design made of "premium" materials. Some of the new features include a face unlock and a fingerprint sensor at the rear to keep up with the market trends.
Alcatel 3V
The Alcatel 3V is said to come with a high-resolution, full-screen design along with a dual camera setup on the rear side and probably a glossy back panel. It should come with a toughened glass layering on top. Wireless charging? It could be a possibility.
Alcatel 5
And finally, the Alcatel 5 will be the most premium offering from the company. The smartphone is said to come with bigger sized battery to exponentially deliver a full day of usability. Further, the handset is said to come with dual selfie cameras along with an LED flash. The device will have a textured back panel where the fingerprint sensor and the primary camera sensor will be placed.
In any case, we will have to wait till MWC 2018 which is starting on 26 February to know the full specs of the device. Interestingly, AndroidPolice notes that the three smartphones will likely come with Qualcomm and MediaTek processors.
