We can also expect to see the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro at the event, although it will likely feature the same specs as the vanilla ROG Phone 8, albeit with a different design and configurations.

Asus ROG Phone 8 Launch: How to Watch it Live?

The Asus ROG Phone 8 launch event is taking place later today, January 9, 2024, at 04:30 am IST. The event will be livestreamed on the official Asus ROG YouTube channel. However, we've embedded the link below for your convenience. Additionally, the Asus ROG Phone 8 is arriving in China on January 16.

Asus ROG Phone 8: What we know so far

Ahead of the launch, Asus has teased quite a few details about its upcoming gaming smartphone. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Asus revealed a new Chill mode on the ROG Phone 8, which suggests better peak sustained performance while gaming.

The teaser also reveals the full back panel of the device with the ROG logo on the bottom. Asus previously confirmed that the ROG Phone 8 will be the first ROG smartphone to feature an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Additionally, its screen will also have the slimmest bezels of any ROG Phone.

Asus ROG Phone 8 Performance

We already know that the Asus ROG Phone 8 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Moreover, the handset will also feature LPDDR5X RAM (up to 24GB) and UFS 4.0 storage (up to 1TB). Asus China recently teased some benchmarks of the ROG Phone 8 Pro.

The teaser reveals that the ROG Pro managed an overall AnTuTu score of 2359969, easily surpassing the two-million-mark. Moreover, the ROG Phone 8 Pro also managed a multi-core score of 7422 points on Geekbench. This suggests that the ROG Phone 8 series will offer outstanding performance.

Asus ROG Phone 8 Specifications (Expected)

The ROG Phone 8 is expected to sport a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with HDR10+ support and a 165Hz refresh rate. The screen will be protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

For optics, the ROG Phone 8 will feature a triple-camera setup, although details about the three sensors are unknown. According to reports, the handset will feature a 50 MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor with OIS, a 13 MP ultrawide lens, and a new 32 MP telephoto shooter.

Asus is expected to reduce the battery size on the ROG Phone 8 down to 5,500 mAh, which will support Quick Charge 5.0 and PD charging.
