CES 2024: ASUS ROG Phone 8 Series Launched With Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Up to 1TB Storage
With CES 2024 in full swing from today, Asus has introduced the highly anticipated ROG Phone 8 series, featuring the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro.
Tailored for gamers, these smartphones boast a range of impressive features, pushing the boundaries of mobile gaming.

Design and Display
The ROG Phone 8 series embraces a departure from the hardcore gaming design seen in its predecessors. The front of both models boasts a sleek flat display with a centered punch-hole and slimmer bezels, providing a more mainstream appeal.
The ROG Phone 8 sports a customizable Aura RGB lighting logo on the back, while the Pro variant features a unique "AniMe Vision" mini-LED lighting with 341 LEDs. Both phones are equipped with an IP68-rated dust and water resistance.
The 6.78-inch Samsung AMOLED LTPO display offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 165Hz refresh rate, up to 2,500 nits of peak brightness, and glove touch support. The in-screen fingerprint scanner enhances security. The Pro variant comes in the sophisticated Phantom Black color, while the standard variant is available in Rebel Grey and Phantom Black.

Performance
Under the hood, both the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The standard model offers up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, while the Pro variant boasts up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. A robust 5,500mAh battery supports 65W fast charging, Quick Charge 5.0, and PD charging. Additionally, both devices support 15W Qi wireless charging.
Cameras
The ROG Phone 8 series introduces the most advanced camera system ever seen in a ROG phone. Both models feature a 32-megapixel RGBW front camera for crisp selfies. On the back, a Sony IMX890 50-megapixel main camera with OIS support, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a 120-degree FOV, and a 32-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS support provide a versatile photography experience.
AI-Driven Features and Gaming Enhancements
To enhance the gaming experience, Asus introduces the "AI Grabber" feature, streamlining the process of searching for gaming walkthroughs by recognizing and copying in-game text. The ROG UI-based Android 14, coupled with a conduction cooling system, ensures optimal performance during extended gaming sessions. The new AeroActive Cooler X accessory is now smaller and lighter, offering improved heat dissipation.
Pricing and Availability
The ROG Phone 8 base variant, with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, is priced at $1,099. The 16GB of RAM and 512GB storage variant costs $1,199. The top-tier ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition, featuring 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, is priced at $1,499. The series is set to hit the market in spring 2024.
