ColorOS 16 January Monthly Update Live: Check New Features, Rollout Timeline, and Eligible Devices
OPPO has begun rolling out its January 2026 ColorOS 16 monthly update, introducing a mix of returning features, cross-device connectivity tools, and system-level refinements.

AI Writer Returns After Temporary Suspension
One of the key changes in the January update is the return of AI Writer, which had been paused toward the end of 2025.

The built-in tool supports multiple content formats, including essays, job advertisements, letters, proposals, scripts, plans, and greetings. It allows users to generate structured text directly on their devices without relying on external applications.
OPPO has positioned the feature as part of its broader effort to integrate AI-driven tools into everyday smartphone usage, rather than limiting them to standalone apps.
O+ Connect Expands Cross-Device Capabilities
The update also introduces enhancements to O+ Connect, OPPO’s cross-device connectivity feature.

With the latest version, supported OPPO devices can display iPhone calls, messages, and alerts directly on the phone. The feature is intended to simplify workflows for users who operate across both Android and iOS devices.
Availability may vary depending on device models and underlying hardware or software limitations, meaning not all users will have access to the full set of features.
Incremental Changes Across Core Apps
Beyond AI and connectivity features, the update includes several smaller additions that affect everyday usage.
Private Safe now supports file search and direct sharing from encrypted folders. The Camera app adds a 65:24 aspect ratio option in Photo, Night, and Master modes, enabling a wider framing format. The App Drawer introduces new Office and Finance categories to improve app organization.
OPPO has also added a new option to hide the “Reply with SMS” button on the incoming call screen. This setting can be accessed through Contacts → Settings → Answer or End calls → Reply with SMS.
Alongside these changes, the update includes improvements to system stability, privacy, and security.
Rollout Timeline and Eligible Devices
The ColorOS 16 January update is being rolled out in phases. OPPO states that the rollout began on January 8 and is expected to conclude by January 31.
