ColorOS 16 May Monthly Update Live: Check New Features, Rollout Timeline, and Eligible Devices
OPPO has officially announced the global rollout of its May 2026 ColorOS 16 update, and this one adds a surprisingly large list of AI and connectivity features across supported devices.
The rollout reportedly started on May 5 and is expected to continue in phases until May 31.

A big part of this update revolves around making ColorOS feel smarter and more connected, especially for users switching between OPPO devices and Apple products.
Live Space Is OPPO’s New Interactive Notification System
One of the more noticeable additions is a feature called Live Space.
It places capsule-style live notifications directly over the wallpaper and lock screen area, giving users quick access to ongoing activities without constantly opening apps.
OPPO says users can tap these notifications to jump into a more immersive full-screen experience.
From the description alone, it feels somewhat similar to the growing trend of dynamic and glanceable UI elements appearing across smartphone operating systems lately.
O+ Connect Brings AirDrop-Style Sharing To Apple Devices
Another major feature in the update is O+ Connect.
With this, OPPO users can reportedly transfer files wirelessly to iPhones, iPads, and Macs in a way that sounds very similar to AirDrop.
Cross-platform file sharing has always been messy between Android and Apple ecosystems, so this could genuinely become one of the more practical additions in the update if it works smoothly in real-world use.
OPPO Is Pushing AI Features Everywhere
Like most smartphone brands right now, OPPO is leaning heavily into AI tools.
The May ColorOS 16 update adds features like AI Grouping, AI Popout, AI Menu Translation, and AI Scan.
There are also improvements to Live Translation, including AI-generated summaries and better context awareness during translations.
The Recorder app now gets AI Recording Stickers and improved recording summaries, while visual summaries can generate flowcharts, diagrams, images, and tables automatically.
Interestingly, the rich visual summaries feature will only be available in select regions, including India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Belarus, and Russia.
Smaller Changes Focus On Everyday Usability
Outside the AI features, OPPO has also tweaked several smaller parts of the system.
Animations between apps like Messages, Weather, and Calendar are now smoother. Users can swipe through stacked AI Suggest widgets more easily while editing, and App Cloner support has been expanded to allow up to three clones of supported apps.
There’s also a cleaner Eye Comfort settings page and a new option that lets users search for apps by color in Drawer mode.
Yes, that last one sounds oddly specific, but some people will probably end up using it more than expected.
