"Starting just before 12:00 a.m. UTC on November 3, 2019, iPhone 5 will require an iOS update to maintain accurate GPS location and to continue to use functions that rely on correct date and time including App Store, iCloud, email, and web browsing. This is due to the GPS time rollover issue that began affecting GPS-enabled products from other manufacturers on April 6, 2019. Affected Apple devices are not impacted until just before 12:00 a.m. UTC on November 3, 2019," says Apple, in an official statement.

This update will allow the iPhone 5 models to maintain an accurate GPS location. Apps like App Store, iCloud, email, and web browsing require accurate date and time to work.

You can update your iPhone 5 by following these simple steps:

• On your iPhone 5, you need to head to the Setting app.
• From the list, you have to select the General setting.
• On the top of the list, you can find Software Update, tap on it and it will start searching for the new update.
• Tap on Update to download and install, which will start downloading the update file.
• Once the download is done, you can see a popup seeking your permission to install the update.
• Tap on Yes and it will start the installation process.
• Your smartphone might boot up a couple of time but don't worry it will update and restart of its own.
