Elephone teases a metal-clad smartphone with quirky design, planned for Q1 2016 launch

    Chinese handset manufacturer Elephone is prepping a new smartphone that will don a metal body. The company has teased photos of this upcoming phone on social media, without disclosing its name and specifications. It has however mentioned the timeline for the phone suggesting it will be launched in Q1 of 2016.

    Going by the information teased by the company, this yet to be named Elephone's upcoming smartphone will be a metal-clad device that will feature a 5.3-inch screen. The company says that this screen size is the most suitable for holding the phone in hand. As seen in the images, the phone will be painted in a combination of colours that include orange and grey. The orange colour has been used on the top and the bottom of the handset, which is in contrast with the grey coloured metal panel used on the back. The phone seems pretty interesting, in terms of its design, as seen in the teased photos.

    As for other specs and features of the phone, we are short of details right now but we expect this to be a mid-range smartphone. Knowing that the device is set for Q1, 2016 launch, we expect more leaks and teasers to be posted shortly.

    Elephone recently entered smartphone market in India with the launch of Elephone G7 smartphone, which was launched in partnership with onine ecommerce store Snapdeal. This smartphone also flaunts a metal bodied design with 5.5-inch HD (720p) IPS display, 1.4 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6592M processor, 1GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, an 8MP front-facing camera, 3G support and 2650mAh battery.
