Fairphone 2, World's First Modular Smartphone now available for Pre-Order

Purists who love to lay their hands on the world's first modular smartphone available in the market would be pleased to know that Fairphone 2 is now available for pre-order. These smartphones are made by all ethical means and come from a list of "ethical suppliers".

The phone will be available only in select countries in the Europe till the company decides to make the phones available to other countries or regions. Customers can pre-order the Fairphone 2 for €525 or $585 (approximately 38,000 rupees). Surprisingly, there is no limit on the number of pre-orders for a single user. 20,000 Fairphone modular smartphones have already been pre-booked which is a rather good start for the company.

Fairphone 2 ships with a standard set of specifications. The company states that all materials used in the manufacture of the phone has been ordered from "ethical" sources, so customers need not worry about the quality of the phones.

Fairphone 2 available up for pre-order in EU

Fairphone 2 Specification :

Fairphone 2 runs on an obsolete quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory expandable to 128GB through a microSD card slot.

The modular smartphone sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display with resolution of 1080p of full HD with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.The faiphone comes with a 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording. It is powered by a usual 2,420 mAh battery.

The Fairphone 2 ships with the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system and supports a dual-SIM. There is no word on the software updates to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
