Fake OPPO, OnePlus, Realme Devices Seized in India After Cops Raid Warehouse: How to Identify Fake Products
Counterfeit smartphones and accessories continue to be a growing concern in India, especially as buyers increasingly rely on local retail shops and online marketplaces for affordable gadgets. In a recent crackdown, Delhi Police's Crime Branch uncovered a large-scale operation allegedly selling fake OPPO, OnePlus and Realme products after raiding warehouses and a factory in the national capital. The case has once again highlighted the risks consumers face while purchasing smartphones and accessories from unofficial sources.
According to investigators, the operation involved importing unbranded mobile accessories from China and repackaging them using counterfeit branding material to make them appear genuine. The accused allegedly sold these products in retail markets as original or duty-free gadgets, potentially misleading unsuspecting customers.

Delhi Police Raid Uncovers Counterfeit Smartphone Operation
The raid was conducted at two warehouses located in Regharpura, Karol Bagh, along with a factory in Moti Nagar. During the operation, police reportedly seized thousands of counterfeit products carrying branding related to OPPO, OnePlus and Realme.
Authorities recovered earbuds, earphones, charging adapters, packaging boxes, dye sheets and stickers allegedly designed to imitate official branding. Police also confiscated eight machines that were reportedly being used for fake branding, label printing and packaging.
Two accused, identified as Bharat Ram and Gautam Kumar, were arrested during the raid. Another accused, Amit Mishra of Khatu Shyam Printers, who allegedly supplied fake packaging material, is reportedly absconding.
Representatives from OPPO, OnePlus and Realme accompanied the Delhi Police team during the operation. Officials said the company representatives inspected the seized products and confirmed that the recovered devices and accessories were counterfeit and not distributed through authorised channels.
Why Counterfeit Phones and Accessories are Dangerous
Fake smartphones and accessories may look nearly identical to genuine products, but they can pose serious risks. Counterfeit chargers and adapters often lack proper safety standards, increasing the chances of overheating, battery damage or even electrical hazards. Fake earbuds and accessories may also use inferior components that fail quickly or damage connected devices.
Counterfeit smartphones can be even more problematic. They may run modified software containing malware, offer poor security protection or fail to receive software updates. In some cases, fake devices may even display copied branding and packaging while using completely different internal hardware.
Since counterfeit products are often sold at prices significantly lower than official retail rates, many buyers unknowingly fall into the trap of purchasing fake gadgets in an attempt to save money.
How Buyers Can Identify Fake Smartphones and Accessories
Consumers can avoid counterfeit smartphones and accessories by checking a few key details before buying. Products sold at unusually low prices compared to the market average should be treated with caution. Packaging can also reveal signs of fakes, including poor print quality, spelling mistakes, faded colours or misaligned branding.
Buyers should verify serial numbers, IMEI numbers or QR codes through official websites or apps whenever possible. Fake devices may also show poor build quality, laggy performance or missing software features.
Experts recommend purchasing only from authorised retailers, official stores or verified online sellers. The recent Delhi Police raid serves as a reminder that fake gadgets can sometimes look very convincing, making careful verification and trusted purchase sources increasingly important for consumers.
