Foxconn Plans iPhone Production at Bengaluru Plant from 2024
According to M. B. Patil, the Karnataka State's Minister of Large and Medium Industries, Foxconn, the well-known manufacturing company and Apple's contract manufacturer, intends to establish an iPhone manufacturing facility in Devanahalli, Bengaluru. This announcement came after a meeting between Patil and representatives from Foxconn during a courtesy visit on Thursday.
With its extensive experience and expertise, Foxconn is poised to become a prominent player in India's manufacturing landscape. This strategic move aims to capitalize on the growing demand for Apple products in the region and strengthen the company's supply chain.

Government Support
Recognizing the significance of Foxconn's investment, the state government has pledged its support for the project. The government has committed to providing the necessary land for the manufacturing plant, which spans an expansive 300 acres within Devanahalli's Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR).
To ensure the smooth functioning of the facility, the government has also assured Foxconn of essential infrastructure facilities, including a reliable power supply, road connectivity, and a daily water supply of five million liters.
To align the available workforce with the specific requirements of Foxconn's operations, the government has requested the company to provide the necessary skill sets. In response, the government will facilitate training programs for eligible candidates, enhancing their employability and ensuring a competent and qualified workforce.
This collaboration between the government and Foxconn aims to create a symbiotic relationship that fosters economic growth and empowers the local community.
Project Details
The project, estimated to cost Rs 13,600 crore, underscores Foxconn's commitment to expanding its manufacturing capabilities in India. As part of the agreement, Foxconn has already made a payment of Rs 90 crore (30% of the land cost) to the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). The project is set to be completed in three phases, with each phase marking a significant milestone in the plant's development.
Once all three phases are finalized, the Devanahalli plant is projected to manufacture an impressive 20 million iPhone units annually. This substantial production capacity demonstrates Foxconn's dedication to meeting the global demand for Apple's popular smartphones.
By establishing a strong manufacturing foothold in India, Foxconn aims to leverage its expertise and contribute to the country's thriving technology sector.
Economic Impact
The establishment of Foxconn's iPhone manufacturing plant in Devanahalli is expected to have a profound economic impact on the region. The project's estimated cost and ambitious completion goal signify the magnitude of Foxconn's investment and its commitment to the Indian market.
By creating an estimated 50,000 job opportunities, the project will contribute significantly to reducing unemployment rates and improving the livelihoods of individuals in the area.
