Samsung Reportedly Going All-In on Snapdragon for Galaxy S25 and Even S26, But Exynos Isn't Out for the Count

Earlier today, we reported that Samsung will incorporate the new Snapdragon 8 Elite in its smartphones. While Samsung hasn't explicitly confirmed this for the Galaxy S25 series, it seems to be the most logical move as the next flagship lineup is due to launch early next year, likely in January.

Galaxy S26 Expected to Feature Snapdragon Chips Exclusively

Now, it seems that Samsung will continue this trend with the Galaxy S26 series, which is also rumored to exclusively use Snapdragon processors. Tipster Ice Universe revealed that Samsung is considering sticking with Snapdragon for the entire S26 lineup. This would be welcome news for those who have come to expect the solid performance and energy efficiency that Snapdragon chips have consistently delivered.

Galaxy S26 May Stick with Snapdragon, But Exynos Isn’t Done Yet

By sticking with Snapdragon for another year, Samsung is likely aiming to ensure consistent quality for its flagship devices, while also giving its in-house Exynos platform more time to develop.

Exynos Could Make a Comeback in 2027

While Snapdragon may dominate Samsung's flagships for the next couple of years, the company hasn't given up on Exynos. According to the same tipster, Samsung is already developing a new Exynos chip, codenamed 'Ulysses,' which is expected to debut in the Galaxy S27 series. This new chip will reportedly be built on Samsung Foundry's 2nm process, which should be ready by the end of 2026.

This long-term plan indicates that Samsung is still focused on refining its own chip technology and preparing Exynos for a strong return in future Galaxy flagships.

Why Snapdragon is the Best Bet for Galaxy S25

The Galaxy S25 series was originally supposed to feature the Exynos 2500 chip, built on Samsung's 3nm process. The company even mentioned the Exynos 2500 in its earnings call. However, due to yield issues with the 3nm chip, Samsung seems to have pivoted to the Snapdragon 8 Elite for the entire S25 lineup.

With the Galaxy S25 series expected to launch in January 2024, this switch ensures that Samsung can deliver a reliable and high-performing device to its users, leaning on Qualcomm's established technology.
