Gionee is all set to launch the Elife E8 smartphone in India on October 8. The company first announced the flagship smartphone in China, back in June, and after nearly four months of its launch it is finally going to launch the phone in India. The Chinese smartphone company has started sending out invites for an event that is scheduled for October 8, where the company will be launching the Elife E8 flagship smartphone on its own store online, or in an exclusive partnership with a shopping portal.
The company's invite to the event does not mention the name of the forthcoming smartphone, however, GizBot has been confirmed by the company insiders that it is the Elife E8 that will be launched at the event. Moreover, the invite itself also has hints to the company plans on launching the new flagship.
The invite says, ‘Block your date for some GR8 news. A new phone launch and a big entry into e-commerce.'
Key specifications and features: Gionee Elife E8:
The company's new flagship smartphone brings some exciting features on board, however the key attraction of the phone is its 24MP rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera up front. The smartphone's primary camera comes with OIS, and true-tone flash. Moreover, the phone boasts a fingerprint sensor at the back, near the camera.
The Gionee Elife E8 features a 6-inch WQHD Super AMOLED display with 2560×1440 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 490ppi. It is powered by a 2GHz MediaTek MT6795 64-bit octa-core processor coupled with IMG G620 GPU. The chipset is supported with 3GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB on a microSD card.
As far as software is concerned, the phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop topped with the company's native Amigo 3.1 UI which bring a number of customizations and features on-board. Other features in the phone include a 3,520mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, and other standard features.
Price and availability:
It will be interesting to see how the company will price the phone, considering the gruesome competition in market. As per the invite, Gionee could start selling the smartphone via its own online store in India, just like its Chinese competitor company - Xiaomi, which also sells devices through its own store in India, apart from selling these through other online portals
Moreover, we may as well hear something around the company's plans on making the Elife E8 in India under Make-in-India initiative, as it has earlier announced that it will start manufacturing devices in India with Foxconn and Dixon.
