After Huawei launched their Honor 7 in India a few days back, Gionee have finally brought their flagship device to the country. The Gionee Elife E8 comes with a 2.0GHz octa-core Mediatek X10 Helio Chip under the hood along with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
As expected from an E series handset of Gionee, the Elife E8 is a camera centric device touting a large 24MP sensor with OIS and PDAF sensor on the back. Below that is a Fingerprint sensor which works rather well.
Just like the Elife E8, the Honor 7 too bears top of the line flagship specifications. However the pricing of the two device are vastly different. But is there much of a difference on the inside? Let's find out.

Build & Design:
Just like most flagship devices from Huawei, the Honor 7 comes with an all metal build quality. On the other hand the Gionee Elife E8 comes with a metal side profile and a plastic back cover.
Gionee E8 and Honor 7 sports two different displays. While the Honor 7 with its 5.2 inch Full HD display is ideal for single handed uses, the Elife E8 comes with a large 6 inch QHD display. The QHD display of the E8 is unwieldy for single handed usage, however it is ideal for media consumption.
Under the hood of the Elife E8 is a Mediatek X10 Helio octa core SoC with cores clocked at 2.0GHz each. This coupled with a PowerVR G6200 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
On the other hand the Honor 7 comes with a Kirin 930 octa core SoC and a 3GB of RAM.
Both the devices come with a 64GB internal storage variant. However the Honor 7 comes in a 16GB version too. Further it can support MicroSD slot upto 128GB.
Gionee Elife E8 sports a 24MP rear camera which comes with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus) technology. The Chinese OEM has always got their camera spot on and this time too it won't be an exception.
The Honor 7 on the other hand comes with a 20MP camera on the back which is accompanied by a dual tone LED Flash.
On the front of both devices is an 8MP AF camera. However the Honor 7 comes with a front LED flash thereby giving it an edge in terms of low light selfies.
In terms of battery the Gionee Elife E8 has an edge thanks to its 3520mAh unit as compared to the 3100mAh found on the Honor 7. However both the device will deliver decent on screen time.
While the Gionee Elife E8 runs on Android Lollipop 5.1, the Honor 7 comes with a tad older 5.0 edition. However both the devices have their own customs UI on top.
The Honor 7 runs the eMUI 3.1 while the Gionee has an Amigo UI 3.0 on top.
The pricing departments of both the devices are vastly different. While Honor 7 comes at just Rs 22,999; the Gionee Elife E8 is priced quite high at Rs 34,999. At this price point it fall head on head with the recently launched Nexus series of devices.
