Gionee Excites Nigerian Consumers with Marathon M5 Mini

Soon after the launch of Gionee Marathon M5 Lite in India, the company has announced the same device renamed as Marathon M5 Mini in Nigerian market. Moving on to the specifications, this Mini variant comes with 5-inch HD IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

The M5 Mini is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 64-bit processor with Mali-T720 GPU besides 2GB RAM under the hood. Moving on, this device comes with 16GB of internal storage, with an expandable option of up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

Moving on to the camera department, this Mini variant flaunts an 8MP rear camera with LED Flash, 5MP front camera on board. The Mini M5 also comes shipped with Android 5.1 Lollipop on top of Amigo UI 3.1.

On the connectivity, the Gionee Marathon M5 Mini supports 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, USB OTG, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio. As the name implies, this Mini variant is powered by a 4000mAh battery.

As of now, the pricing and availability of the device is not known, however, this so-called Marathon M5 Mini will be available in Golden color.

Commenting on the launch, Marketing Director, Somoye Habeeb, Gionee Nigeria, said, "Gionee focuses on innovation, efficiency and affordability in ways that other brands don't. Having received a warm reception from the Nigerian market when we introduced the Gionee M5 a few months ago, Gionee is following up with the M5 Mini."

He also added, "The Gionee M5 Mini as the name implies, is a compact version of the M5. It is just as effective and stylish, but more affordable. It can be considered a sequel to the highly durable M5, and is the latest phone to be released in Nigeria."
