Google May Launch Only Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold in India
Google is all set to unveil the Pixel 9 series smartphones at the 'Made by Google' launch event on August 13 at 10 am PT (10:30 PM IST), while the India launch will take place on August 14. Following the launch, the Pixel 9 series smartphones will be available via Flipkart in the country, where a dedicated microsite has already gone live.
The Flipkart listing also suggests Google might bring two models to India - the Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, while the 9 series is also likely to include the Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro models. In the meantime, Google India confirmed the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will come as the first foldable device from the brand in the country. Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold: What to Expect?
As seen in the official teaser, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold will have dual-pill-shaped camera cutouts, placed into a rectangular module. While the teaser doesn't reveal the camera on the inner screen, it is expected to get a punch-hole camera on the left side of the screen. Both the Pixel 9 Pro XL and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold are confirmed to come with AI features, which might be branded as 'Google AI'.
On the other hand, a recent leak revealed the Pixel 9 Pro XL will be powered by the Tensor G4 chipset paired with the Titan M2 dedicated security chip. The same chip is also expected to run the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and the other two models of the Pixel 9 series.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL will likely feature a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1,344 x 2,992 pixels and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The panel will also support an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
For optics, the phone is expected to feature a 50MP primary Samsung GNK 1/1.31" primary sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and OIS support, a 48MP Sony IMX585 ultrawide shooter with an f/1.68 aperture and a 48MP periscope lens with an f/2.8 aperture and 5x optical zoom at the rear panel. Up front, the Pixel 9 Pro XL might feature a 42MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture.
Moreover, the device could pack a 5,000 mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging support and wireless and reverse wireless charging. The Pixel 9 Pro XL will also feature an IP68 rating for resistance to dust and water. Since all is speculation, it's better to take it with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for the official announcement.
