Google Nexus 5X: 10 Useful Tips and Tricks to Unleash Your Phone
Few months back, Google has launched its Nexus 5X smartphone manufactured by LG at a price of Rs. 29,990 in the Indian market. One of the benefits of having a Nexus device is that, they are the first one to get new Android updates.
For the first time, the search engine Google has opted the USB Type-C charging cable for its Android device. It is indeed reversible and doesn't matter how you insert it.
The LG Nexus 5X comes with 5.2-inch Full HD (1080p) display, Snapdragon 808 chipset, 3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB internal memory, 2MP rear camera, USB Type-C, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Fingerprint sensor. It is powered by a 2,700mAh battery.

On the imaging front, the Nexus 5X comes with 12.3MP rear camera with laser autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash and 1.55µm pixel size.
Other features include geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama and also capable of taking 2160p video at 30fps. On the front, this Google device flaunts a 5MP snapper for selfies and skyping. Lets have a look at 10 useful tips and tricks to get the most out of it.
Nexus 5X: Restore from old device
During your first boot, you will be greeted with a new restore option called "Tap & Go", introduced in Lollipop version. One tap will instantly restore your old device settings right from the apps setting to widgets on the home screen.
Nexus 5X: Add a fingerprint sensor
Google has added Fingerprint sensor option as another security feature in Android Marshmallow. You can use this fingerprint sensor to unlock your phone, pay for items using Android pay.
To set up this up head on to Settings → Security → Nexus Imprint → Add fingerprint.
Nexus 5X: Google Now on Tap
The Android Marshmallow 6.0 comes with new feature called Google Now on Tap. To enable this option, long press the home button and turn it on. Once done, you can do multi tasking without leaving the conversation. You can also say, "Ok Google" and get even more information all with typical voice commands.
Nexus 5X: Set up Smart Lock
This is one of the amazing features, that Android 6.0 will ever have. With this feature, you can unlock the device without entering the password in certain scenario. For example, you can set up a location such as your home and when your Nexus 5X is in that area, it will unlock automatically.
Nexus 5X: Android Pay
Android Pay made its debut in Android 6.0 Marshmallow version. You can use your fingerprint scanner for Android Pay to approve you payment. To set this up go to Android Pay → Tap on '+' button → Add a debit or credit card.
Nexus 5X: Google Fit
This Nexus 5X device comes with fitnss app called 'Google Fit app'. This app can track your steps, activity, weight loss, and more. To set it up, install the Google Fit app → Sign in → Fill your height, weight, gender and personal fitness goal.
Nexus 5X: Capture photos while recording
You can capture images while recording the video on your Nexus 5X. Just start recording the video and tap the screen whenever you want to take a snapshot. The image will be automatically saved to your internal memory.
Nexus 5X: Peek into your Notifications
With this feature, you can have a glance at the notification without opening it. All you need to do is to put your finger on the notification and slide it slightly downwards.
To enable or disable peeking go to Settings > Sound & Notification > App notifications > Select App > Allow peeking, then simply enable/ disable it.
Nexus 5X: Put a message on lock-screen
The LG Nexus 5X comes with another cute feature, where you can add your message on the lock screen. It shows your text right under the date and time on the standby display when the device is locked.
To enable this go to Settings > Security > Lock screen message.
Nexus 5X: Quick launch the camera
There are some instance where you have no time to unlock the phone, launch the camera app and then click a picture. But Nexus 5X also has an option to enable instant camera shortcut by double pressing the lock button.
You can enable this option in the Display settings under the Settings menu. Simply scroll to ‘Press power button twice for camera‘ option, then tap & switch the slider on.
