Google Pixel 10 Pro XL AnTuTu Benchmark Leaked Ahead of Launch Today, and Reactions Are Divided

We’re just hours away from Google officially pulling the curtain back on the Pixel 10 series, but the internet didn’t wait. Leaked benchmarks for the Pixel 10 Pro XL are already out, and the results are… well, complicated.

On paper, the new Tensor G5 chip looks like a step forward, and in some ways it is. The CPU numbers are impressive—reportedly 73% higher than last year’s Pixel 9 Pro XL. But here’s the catch: the GPU score actually dropped compared to its predecessor. That’s not the kind of headline Google wants floating around on launch day.

AnTuTu Scores

The leaked AnTuTu benchmarks for the Pixel 10 Pro XL suggest the Tensor G5 delivers a 16% overall boost compared to the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The biggest jump comes from the CPU, which is said to be up by around 73%. But the surprise is on the graphics side: the GPU score reportedly dropped, coming in at just 88% of last year’s model. Memory performance has improved, while UX scores remain roughly the same.

Fans Question the Trade-Offs

As expected, Reddit jumped on the results quickly. One user, Giantmeteor_we_needU, put it bluntly: “I’m wondering why the GPU score actually dropped in 10.” Another, horatiobanz, was even harsher: “They found an even cheaper one they could use.”

Some comments reflected long-standing frustrations with Google’s hardware strategy. SteveBored wrote: “Google are seriously pathetic. That’s like from four generations ago.”

Others, though, tried to explain it. GeneralChaz9 suggested it could be a software issue: “Gotta wonder if the low GPU score is due to a new architecture that AnTuTu isn’t targeting.” Meanwhile, FunGamer85 added: “Probably old drivers on the demo unit.”

Is It Worth Upgrading?

Not everyone is writing the Pixel 10 off. Some users are waiting to see what Google offers in terms of trade-ins, especially since last year’s Pixel 9 deals softened the blow. Dry_Instruction8254 said, “If they give enhanced trade-in on my 9P (like they did with the 8P last year) it’s definitely worth the upgrade.”

Others are bracing for disappointment. Darkpurpleskies wrote, “Yup. Waiting for the side by side with the OnePlus 13 to be fully disappointed… trade in better be good.”

Beyond the Numbers

Benchmarks have always been a tricky metric. On one hand, they give an early snapshot of performance. On the other, they don’t always capture how a phone feels day to day. Some users pointed out that Tensor chips aren’t built to win benchmark charts but to lean into AI and computational photography. As one Redditor, puppyyawn, explained: “Google doesn’t want to be another Snapdragon, don’t you see it? TPU in Tensor is massively parallel computation.”

That may be true—but if you’re paying flagship prices, you expect strong numbers everywhere, not just in a few areas.
