Google Pixel 10 vs Pixel 10 Pro: What are the Differences? Which One Should You Buy?

The Google Pixel 10 recently made its debut in India and globally, offering several upgrades over its predecessor. However, the biggest of those upgrades was the introduction of a telephoto camera, taking the number of camera lenses on the back of the device to three as compared to two on the Pixel 9 (Review).

This upgrade puts the standard Pixel 10 on par with the Pixel 10 Pro in terms of camera count, as both now feature triple rear lenses. But with the Pro model priced nearly ₹30,000 higher, the question naturally arises-what exactly sets the two apart, and is the extra cost justified?

Pixel 10 vs Pixel 10 Pro: What are the Differences?

The overall design and build quality are largely similar for both phones. Apart from their colours, there are very few, if any, discernible differences between the two devices. While both the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro feature 120Hz LTPO OLED displays, the 'Pro' model features a more adaptive refresh rate and has a higher resolution. The Pixel 10 Pro also has a slightly brighter and sharper screen than the standard model.

Both the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro run on Google's Tensor G5 chip, but the Pro model has the edge with a vapor chamber cooling system and extra RAM. The standard Pixel 10 uses a graphene-based solution yet carries a slightly larger 100mAh battery. Software support and overall battery life remain the same on both.

As with most 'Pro' vs 'non-Pro' smartphone matchups, the biggest differentiator usually comes down to the cameras. While both phones feature similar camera setups, their hardware is worlds apart.

Google Pixel 10 vs Pixel 10 Pro: What are the Differences?

The Pixel 10 Pro features a 50MP primary sensor with OIS and an f/1.7 aperture. The main camera is accompanied by a 48MP ultrawide lens with an f/1.7 aperture and a 48MP periscope lens with an f/2.8 aperture and 5x optical zoom. Up front, the Pixel 10 Pro has a 42.5 MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture.

For comparison, the Pixel 10 has an updated triple-rear camera setup, which includes a 48MP primary sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and OIS, a 13MP ultrawide lens with a 120˚ FOV, and a 10.8MP telephoto shooter with OIS and 5x optical zoom. Up front, the Pixel 10 opts for a 10.5MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture and PDAF.

In short, the Pixel 10 Pro clearly has the upper hand with higher-resolution sensors, a more advanced ultrawide and periscope lens, and a sharper front camera. While Google's computational photography helps both models deliver excellent results, software alone can't fully make up for hardware disparities. Adding to its advantage, the Pixel 10 Pro also supports 8K video recording-something the standard Pixel 10 lacks-cementing its position as the more versatile option for serious creators.

Google Pixel 10 Pro vs Pixel 10: Conclusion

When weighing the two, the Pixel 10 offers more value by bringing a telephoto lens to the standard model for the first time, along with the same chip, software support, and similar design as the Pro.

However, the Pixel 10 Pro justifies its premium with superior cameras, a sharper display, more RAM, better cooling, and 8K video support, making it the clear choice for power users and creators. For most buyers though, the nearly ₹30,000 price gap makes the Pixel 10 the more practical pick, while the Pro caters to those who want the absolute best Google has to offer.
