Google Pixel Fold To Have The “Most Durable” Hinge, Water Resistance And Buyers Get A Free Pixel Watch?

This year's Google I/O 2023 has been scheduled on May 10, 2023. As is the norm, the search giant should make major hardware and software announcements at the event. The first Pixel foldable Android smartphone, dubbed the Pixel Fold, could be the highlight of the Google I/O 2023.

Recent leaks have indicated that the Google Pixel Fold will be announced at the upcoming Google event and should be priced well below $2,000. A new report suggests Google will offer the latest Pixel Watch as a complimentary gift to Pixel Fold buyers and even offer a trade-in deal.

Google Pixel Fold Screen Size, Durable Hinge, And Larger Battery To Be Highlighted

According to "internal documents and images", Google will promote the upcoming Pixel Fold's folding mechanism as "the most durable hinge on a foldable". It is not immediately clear how Google has come up with this conclusion. However, smartphone manufacturers have previously promoted the folding mechanisms of their foldable smartphones by showing the design, and manufacture, and by using innovative materials used in the hinge.

The latest leak about the Pixel Fold also claims Google has ensured the smartphone is water-resistant. Simply put, the first foldable Android smartphone from Google should have certified protection from dust and water splashes. However, the exact certification hasn't been revealed yet.

The upcoming Google Pixel Fold has a 5.8-inch external display, while the inner display, when unfolded, will offer a screen real estate of 7.6-inch, claims the leak. Moreover, the smartphone may weigh 283 grams owing to a large battery pack.

The exact size of the battery embedded inside the Pixel Fold hasn't been revealed yet, but the leak claims Google has picked a battery that's larger than the one embedded inside the Samsung Galaxy X Fold4. Marketing materials are expected to claim the battery inside the Pixel Fold will last for 24 hours, or up to 72 hours in a low-power mode.

Previous reports have suggested the Pixel Fold is powered by the Tensor G2 chipset and the latest leak corroborates this. The RAM and memory sizes of the first foldable smartphone from Google remain unclear.

Google Pixel Fold Expected Price

The Pixel Fold is expected to be fully unveiled during the Google I/O developer conference on May 10. Some reports suggest Google may offer the foldable smartphone in a single color.

The Google Pixel Fold should go on sale from June 27 and shipping is expected to begin immediately after. As we had recently reported, the foldable smartphone from Google may start from $1,799 (roughly Rs 1,47,600) in the US.
