HMD Global's Debut Smartphone Leaks in Official Render

HMD Global, renowned for its Nokia-branded smartphones, is set to introduce its first smartphone under the HMD brand. While Nokia has been the flagship name associated with the Finnish firm's products since 2016, leaked renders now suggest a strategic shift in its branding approach.

The N159V: A First Look

The purported render of the upcoming HMD N159V smartphone has surfaced online, revealing a sleek design with the distinct HMD logo prominently displayed on the rear panel. Shared by industry sources and exclusively published by 91Mobiles, the black-colored device showcases a dual rear camera module featuring an LED flash, with the HMD logo taking center stage.

HMD Global's Debut Smartphone Leaks in Official Render

Although the official name of the N159V model remains undisclosed, leaked images hint at its classification as a midrange smartphone. Notable features include a plastic rear panel and conveniently located power and volume buttons on the right side. The device is expected to sport a flat display, with a center-aligned hole punch cutout at the top for the front-facing camera.

The HMD Expansion Plan

CEO Jean-Francois Baril first revealed HMD Global's intention to release smartphones under its own brand in September of the previous year. This move marks a significant expansion of the company's product portfolio beyond the Nokia label, a brand they've successfully marketed globally.

The HMD Global Identity

The leaked render does not provide conclusive evidence regarding the presence of a 3.5mm audio jack, leaving this aspect of the device shrouded in mystery. Nevertheless, HMD's commitment to a new brand identity is evident, with the smartphone bearing the company's fresh logo.

Global Reach

The N159V isn't the only model making waves. The IMEI database last year spotted two model numbers, N159V and TA-1585, both certified on the same day.

While details surrounding TA-1585 remain scarce, speculations suggest it might be a regional or carrier-specific variant of the N159V. HMD Global is anticipated to make these devices available globally.
