HMD Set to Unveil Its First Smartphone in India; Drops 'Arrow' Moniker
HMD is gearing up to launch its own branded phone soon in India. Earlier rumours suggested the HMD Arrow would be the first phone in the country. The brand has now confirmed it is dropping 'Arrow' Moniker due to legal reasons.
While the exact name of the upcoming HMD phone is still unknown, it is expected to be a rebranded version of the HMD Pulse, which was originally launched in April in Europe. Here's what to expect from the upcoming HMD phone.

HMD's First Phone Launching Soon in India
If the upcoming HMD phone comes as a rebranded version of the Pulse phone, we expect it might offer the same set of specifications as the latter. To recall, the HMD Pulse was launched with a 6.65-inch HD+ (720x1,612 pixels) LCD screen with 600 nits peak brightness and a 90Hz refresh rate.
The device is powered by the Unisoc T606 chip paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, which also supports additional storage expansion using a microSD card slot.
For imaging, the HMD Pulse has a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. Upfront, it gets an 8MP selfie camera sensor. The phone also packs a 5,000 mAh battery unit with support for 10W charging. The phone features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
As far as the launch is concerned, HMD has not announced the India launch date for the upcoming phone yet. A report by 91mobiles confirms the company is planning to host an event on July 25 in the country to launch its first smartphone. If this turns out to be true, we expect HMD will soon confirm the same. So, it's better to take it with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for the official announcement.
