HMD to launch Nokia 8’s customized edition in select markets
The smartphone may arrive in the Chinese market carrying a price tag that is lower than the pricing of Nokia 8 in other regions.
HMD Global recently unveiled its much-anticipated flagship Nokia 8. At the launch event, Florian Sieche, the acting chief executive of the Finnish company claimed that the Nokia 8 will not be shipped to major markets like the US and China.
However, yesterday we came across a report suggesting the Nokia 8 will soon arrive in China. Now, another report by a publication named NPU suggests that the US and China will be getting a customized edition of the Nokia 8. The report claims to have obtained this information from sources familiar with the plans of HMD Global. That being said, we can't give the guarantee of authenticity of the report.
Anyway, if Nokia 8's customized edition is launched in the US, it is expected to be compatible with all the major carriers in the country. The report further reveals HMD will put more focus on the Chinese market than the US market as far as the Nokia 8 launch is concerned.
In case of Nokia 6, the smartphone was launched in China almost six months before it was released globally. The Chinese variant of the Nokia 6 is equipped with 4GB of RAM, while the global edition packs 3GB of RAM.So presumably, the customized edition of Nokia 8 that is to launch in China will have higher RAM and internal storage capacity.
Going by the speculations, China may get the Nokia 8 featuring 6GB of RAM and 128GB of default storage space. In addition, there might be some new features that will be exclusive to the Chinese customers. Unfortunately, the report doesn't reveal any information about the US variant of the smartphone.
While the hardware aspect of the Nokia 8 is as impressive as any other flagship smartphones from companies like Xiaomi, ZTE Nubia and OnePlus, design-wise it fails to create a mark. As we have mentioned in earlier articles, going against the current trend, the Nokia 8 doesn't come with a bezel-less design.
Since this can affect the sales aspect, the smartphone may arrive in the Chinese market carrying a price tag that is lower than the pricing of Nokia 8 in other regions.
