HMD Brings Back Nostalgia With the Touch 4G, a Compact Touchscreen Phone Priced at ₹3,999
HMD has launched a new device that blurs the line between a feature phone and a smartphone. Called the HMD Touch 4G, it’s being pitched as a “hybrid phone” — one that skips the keypad but keeps things simple with a 3.2-inch touchscreen, dual cameras, and 4G connectivity. Priced at ₹3,999, it’s available in Cyan and Dark Blue across HMD.com and select offline stores.

If this sounds a bit nostalgic, that’s because it is. The Touch 4G feels like a modern throwback to the Nokia Asha series — compact, durable phones that gave users a taste of smartphone life long before Android became mainstream.
What Makes It Different
The HMD Touch 4G isn’t trying to compete with budget Android phones. Instead, it’s built for people who want essential connectivity and entertainment without the distractions or price tag of a full-fledged smartphone. It runs on the RTOS Touch platform and is powered by the Unisoc T127 processor, paired with 64MB RAM and 128MB internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD.
You get access to basic cloud services such as cricket scores, weather, and news updates — along with casual HTML5 games like Tetris and Sudoku. There’s also Express Chat, HMD’s in-house messaging app that supports texting, voice messages, and video calls with other Express Chat users on both Android and iOS.
The phone even has a Quick-Call button that doubles as a shortcut for recording voice notes, making it easy for users to send quick messages on the go.
Built to Be Practical
Despite its small size, the Touch 4G packs some thoughtful hardware. There’s a 2MP rear camera with flash, a VGA front camera for video calls, and connectivity features like 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth 5.0. The device also includes a 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio (wired and wireless), MP3 player, and USB Type-C charging.
Weighing just 100 grams, the phone is dust and splash resistant (IP52 rated) and backed by a 1950mAh battery that promises up to 30 hours of usage. For basic calls, texts, and lightweight browsing, that’s more than enough to get through a couple of days.
Who It’s For
At ₹3,999, the HMD Touch 4G feels aimed squarely at users who are stepping into the digital world for the first time. It could also appeal to people looking for a reliable secondary device — something compact that still lets you make video calls, share Wi-Fi, and stay connected without the constant pull of app notifications.
