Honor 8 Pro starts getting Android Oreo beta update in India
Apart from Oreo, Honor 8 Pro users will be getting the company's latest EMUI 5.1 skin atop Android as well.
Honor's CEO, George Zao had earlier announced that Oreo would be coming to Honor 8 Pro and the company had promised a December roll out. However, sadly, the release of Oreo failed to happen. Having said that, after a month Honor has some good news for its fans and Honor 8 Pro device owners. The company has now mentioned that Oreo beta has started hitting Honor 8 Pro units in India.
According to a reply to a post on its forum page Honor has said that it has started taking in registration for the Beta version of Android Oreo update in Honor 8 Pro. As such registered users are getting the new beta Android 8.0 Oreo software update. The handsets will receive regular over-the-air (OTA) updates of all builds of Android 8.0 Beta.
In any case, the software is currently in a testing phase and things are looking quite positive right now. After failing to deliver the update in December at least there is hope that it could come by end of this month once Honor completes the testing to ensure the compatibility of the latest Android update with the device. While Honor is yet to confirm the release date officially previous reports have suggested that it might actually happen in early months of 2018.
Notably, installing a Beta version can cause some issues on your device. Some of the issues that can arise include data fluctuations, Wi-Fi stops working amongst others. Before installing the update make sure to backup all the important data and files as well. More importantly, do not use this device as your primary smartphone with the beta version.
Meanwhile, Honor 8 Pro users will be getting a host of useful and cool new features with Android Oreo. Users will be experience features like smart text selection, Auto-fill, Picture-in-Picture, and a whole lot more. The update will likely also include a new AI assistant and improve battery life.
Apart from Oreo, users will be getting the company's latest EMUI 5.1 skin atop Android.
Huawei's sub-brand Honor has released Android Oreo updates for some of their products like the Honor 9 and Honor V9.
