Honor 9 Lite First Impressions

Honor 9 Lite, the second quad-camera has been launched in India today at an event in New Delhi. The device flaunts an exceptional design that is on par with that of the flagship smartphones with the glass unibody build. The device comes with a slew of new features with the EMUI 8.0 and Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. Also, there are many highlights and attractive features of the Honor 9 Lite that is a recent market entrant.

The device is priced at Rs. 11,999 and Rs. 14,999 for the base and high-end variants. The low-end variant will be available at a discount of Rs. 1,000 until the company achieves one million units of sale. India is the first country to get the Honor 9 Lite next to China and the global release is slated to happen next month.

Design is on par with flagship smartphones

The Honor 9 Lite features 12 layers of glass that will give a bright mirror-like rear panel. The device has 2.5D glass on both the front and rear surfaces. The front panel of the smartphone has silver like particles that are claimed to give a glowing effect in low-light conditions similar to the night sky.

EMUI 8.0 based on Android Oreo out-of-the-box

The Honor 9 Lite runs EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. The EMUI 8.0 is claimed to be 60% faster system performance and is much smoother than the EMUI 5.0. Also, the EMUI 8.0 comes with new features such as Anti-mistouch that places and answers calls by mistake, smart split screen and home shortcut submenu. Other features such as ride mode and Paytm integration with fingerprint authentication will soon be rolled out to the device via an OTA update.

Honor 9 Lite bestows a 5.65-inch FullView display with a FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The device comes with an octa-core Kirin 659 SoC paired with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB default memory capacity. The device support additional storage up to 128GB using a microSD card. There are standard connectivity aspects such as 4G VoLTE, dual SIM support and more. A 3000mAh battery powers the smartphone with an intelligent power saving feature.

The smartphone has a dual camera setup at the front and another dual camera setup at the rear. Both the dual camera modules comprise of a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera. The dual cameras at the rear of the device are accompanied with PDAF and HDR to capture photos with unique clarity. The dual selfie cameras have a slew of features such as upgraded beautification to identify between him and her, gesture control that lets you click selfies by waving your palm, ability to capture your expressions, and hardware level depth sensing for great looking bokeh effect and portrait shots.

Honor 9 Lite price

The device is priced at Rs. 10999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant and Rs. 14,999 for the 4GB and 64GB storage variant. The actual price of the base variant is Rs. 11,999 but the first one million units of the variant will be sold at a discounted price of Rs. 10,999. The sale will debut at the midnight of January 21 via Flipkart and the official Honor online store. There will be additional launch offers such as 10% cashback as well.
