Honor Hints at Arrival of Magic V5 Foldable Phone - Here's What to Expect?

Honor is all set to unveil its Honor 400 series smartphones this week, with the global launch scheduled for May 22 in London, followed by the Chinese debut on May 28.

But that's not all-Honor is also gearing up to launch two foldable phones, likely to be the Honor Magic V Flip 2 and the Magic V5. Now, Honor's Product Manager, Li Kun, hinted at the launch timeline for these upcoming foldables. In addition, key specifications and details about the Magic V5 have surfaced online. Let's take a closer look.

Honor Magic V5 Launch Timeline Confirmed

The company executive recently shared that the next-gen foldable phone from Honor will launch in the first half of this year. While he didn't mention the exact name, reports suggest the phone is likely to be the Honor Magic V5. He also hinted that the next-gen foldable phone will be the lightest and thinnest in the industry.

Honor Magic V5: What to Expect?

Reports suggest the Magic V5 will be the only other foldable phone from a Chinese brand this year using the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, alongside the Oppo Find N5. However, Li Kun suggested that the Magic V5 will use the regular version of this chip.

According to 3C and CMIIT certification listings, the Magic V5 may come with a battery larger than 6,000mAh and support 66W fast charging. On the other hand, tipster "Experience More" stated the phone won't support satellite calling, but it will still allow Beidou satellite messaging.

Moreover, the Honor Magic V5 is expected to be available in two colours namely - Silk Road Dunhuang and Velvet Black. It's said to be the thinnest foldable yet, with a thickness starting at just 8mm. The same tipster also stated the Honor Magic V5 will go official in China in June.

Other features of the Magic V5 may include a 6.45-inch LTPO OLED outer screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Inside, it could sport an 8-inch foldable screen with 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate as well. For optics, it is tipped to sport a 50MP main camera with OIS, an ultra-wide lens, and a 200MP periscope zoom lens. Moreover, the phone will come with wireless charging, IPX8 water resistance, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
