Honor Magic 8 Series Launched in China With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 7,200mAh Battery
Honor has officially pulled the wraps off its new Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro smartphones in China, signaling the next phase of its flagship lineup. These phones continue the brand’s push into the premium Android space, this time powered by Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and backed by some of the biggest batteries we’ve seen on any Honor device so far.
A Familiar Design With a Premium Touch
Both the Honor Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro follow the company’s familiar design language but with a cleaner, more polished aesthetic. They come in four color options: Velvet Black, Snow White, Sunrise Gold, and Azure Glaze. The Pro version adds a special Sunrise Gold Sand finish.
Pricing starts at CNY 4,499 (around ₹55,000) for the base Magic 8 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, while the top-end 16GB + 1TB version costs CNY 5,499 (around ₹67,800). The Pro model starts at CNY 5,699 (around ₹70,200) and goes up to CNY 6,699 (around ₹83,000).
Honor Magic 8 Pro: Flagship Specs All Around
The Magic 8 Pro is designed for users who want everything — performance, display quality, and endurance. It features a 6.71-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 1.5K resolution (1256×2808 pixels), a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 6,000 nits peak HDR brightness. That’s the kind of brightness level you’d usually expect from high-end Samsung or Apple displays.
Under the hood, it’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The phone runs MagicOS 10, which is based on Android 16.
The triple-camera setup on the back includes a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide, and a 200MP telephoto lens with 3.7x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. Honor also adds its AIMAGE Honor Nox Engine, which enhances stabilization and image clarity, especially in low light.
On the front, there’s a 50MP selfie camera and a 3D depth sensor. The phone is also built to withstand the elements, with IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water protection.
Powering it all is a 7,200mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging, making it one of the largest and fastest-charging batteries in a flagship phone today.
Honor Magic 8: A Slightly Simpler, Still Powerful Package
The standard Magic 8 doesn’t cut too many corners. It features a 6.58-inch OLED display with the same 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness as the Pro model. It also runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, ships with MagicOS 10, and includes the same 50MP selfie camera setup.
Its rear cameras consist of a 50MP main, 50MP ultra-wide, and a 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. While it doesn’t carry the massive 200MP sensor of the Pro, it still brings a capable camera setup for photography enthusiasts.
Battery life is another highlight here — the Magic 8 packs a 7,000mAh cell with 90W wired and 80W wireless charging. At 205 grams, it’s slightly lighter than the Pro’s 219 grams, making it a bit more comfortable to hold.
Availability and Launch Details
As of now, both phones are exclusive to China, with no confirmed global launch timeline. However, given Honor’s growing global presence, especially in markets like India and Europe, it’s likely that we’ll see at least one of these models appear internationally later this year.
