HONOR Magic V5 Will Debut as the World’s Slimmest Foldable Smartphone at 8.8mm Thick on July 5
HONOR has officially announced the launch of its latest foldable smartphone, the Magic V5, in China on 5th July. At the MWC Shanghai 2025 event, CEO James Li confirmed this date and highlighted that it will be the company's most advanced AI-powered foldable device to date. The phone is designed to be the world's thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone.
The HONOR Magic V5 is set to challenge Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold7, which is expected to debut globally in early July. HONOR aims to offer users an appealing alternative with its innovative design, high performance, and portability. The new device will feature advanced AI capabilities, enabling PC-level productivity for its users.

Specifications and Features
According to Digital Chat Station, a reliable source for leaks, the Magic V5 will weigh 217 grams and be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. It will include a 50MP main camera along with an ultra-wide camera and a 3X optical periscope telephoto camera. These features promise enhanced photography experiences for users.
The phone will also boast a 7.95-inch 2K+LTPO foldable screen. This display technology ensures vibrant visuals and smooth transitions between different refresh rates. Additionally, the device will come equipped with a third-generation silicon-carbon battery of approximately 6100mAh capacity, supporting 66W wired charging.
Design and Build
HONOR has focused on achieving remarkable thinness and lightness with the Magic V5. When folded, it measures just 8.8mm thick, setting a new benchmark in foldable smartphone design. This follows the company's previous model, the Magic V3, which was 4.35mm when unfolded and weighed 226 grams.

The company has not only prioritised aesthetics but also ensured that the device offers robust performance through its cutting-edge technology. The combination of sleek design and powerful hardware makes it a compelling choice for tech enthusiasts.
As anticipation builds for this release, more details about the Magic V5 are expected to emerge soon. A global launch is anticipated later this year, expanding its availability beyond China. This development marks a significant step forward in intelligent foldable technology as HONOR continues to innovate in this space.
