Honor Magic V5 With Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC Launched As the World's Slimmest Foldable Smartphone

The Honor Magic V5 has been unveiled as the slimmest foldable phone yet. Honor skipped the V4 but made significant upgrades. The Magic V5 closely resembles its predecessor, which is a positive aspect. However, the frame is now flatter for easier handling. While the V3 was already impressive, the Magic V5 offers enhancements in various areas.

Folded, the Honor Magic V5 measures just 8.8mm in thickness. When unfolded, it is 4.1mm or 4.2mm thick depending on the colour chosen and weighs between 217g and 222g. The Ivory White variant is slimmer and lighter, while Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown are slightly heavier.

Enhanced Protection and Battery Capacity

The device's protection has also improved with an IP58 and IP59 rating, offering better water resistance and added dust protection compared to the Magic V3's IPX8 rating. A notable enhancement is a 12% increase in battery capacity; it now features a 6,100mAh silicon-carbon battery in China and a 5,820mAh version overseas.

The charging capabilities remain consistent with 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging options available. Display specifications are nearly identical to its predecessor. The cover screen is a 6.43-inch LTPO OLED with a resolution of 2376x1060px and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits.

Display Features

The internal display measures at 7.95 inches with a resolution of 2352x2172px, maintaining the same peak brightness as the cover screen. Both screens support a refresh rate of 120Hz for smooth visuals. The cover screen is protected by Honor's Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield while the folding screen uses Honor's Super Armored Inner Screen technology.

For selfies, there are two identical 20MP f/2.2 cameras on each display.

The Honor Magic V5 is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and comes in three configurations: 12GB RAM with 256GB storage, 16GB RAM with either 512GB or 1TB storage options. It is available in four colours: Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown.
