MWC 2026: Honor Showcases Robot Phone with 200MP Gimbal Camera System

At MWC 2026, Honor pulled the wraps off something that feels straight out of a sci-fi movie - the Honor Robot Phone. More than just another flagship concept, the device represents what the brand calls a "new species" of smartphone, blending embodied AI with robot-grade motion and cinematic imaging capabilities.

Unlike traditional smartphones that rely purely on touchscreens and voice assistants, the Robot Phone adds a new layer of physical interaction. Honor is essentially giving its next-gen device not just a brain, but also a sense of movement. The result? A phone that doesn't just respond - it reacts, follows, and even expresses.

A Smartphone That Moves With You

The biggest highlight of the Honor Robot Phone is its embodied AI interaction. Instead of remaining static, the device can physically adjust its angle and orientation in real time. Thanks to multimodal perception, it can identify sounds, track motion, and maintain visual awareness to create a more intuitive and natural interaction model.

One of its most intriguing features is all-angle AI video calling. The phone can follow users as they move, powered by robot-grade motion control. It even adds subtle emotional body language - nodding, shaking its "head," and responding dynamically. In a playful twist, it can also dance to music, bringing personality into what has traditionally been a purely functional device.

Ultra-Compact 4DoF Gimbal System

To make this possible, Honor applied engineering expertise from its foldable devices and developed a self-designed micro motor that is both compact and durable. By significantly reducing the motor size, the company managed to integrate an ultra-compact 4DoF (four degrees of freedom) gimbal system directly into the phone.

This mechanical architecture supports a three-axis gimbal stabilization system, ensuring smooth and precise motion even in dynamic environments.

200MP Camera With Cinematic Capabilities

At its core, the Robot Phone is built around a 200MP sensor paired with a stabilized gimbal camera system. The aim is clear - to bridge the gap between smartphone videography and professional storytelling.

Here's what it brings to the table:

  • Super Steady Video Mode for enhanced stabilization during high-movement shooting
  • AI Object Tracking that intelligently follows subjects in real time
  • AI SpinShot enabling 90° and 180° rotational movements for fluid, cinematic transitions - even when shooting one-handed

The Honor Robot Phone will launch commercially in the second half of 2026. As of now, there is no information on whether it will make its way outside China.
