HTC Desire 12 retail box image leaked: Key specifications and features revealed

HTC seems to be lagging behind in the smartphone market but the company is not giving up yet. The Taiwanese consumer electronics company is gearing up to launch new smartphones soon and bring some disruption in the market. As far as we know, HTC is expected to launch a mid-range smartphone dubbed as Desire 12 and U12 which should be the successor to the company's flagship device U11.

Besides, we have been hearing about these devices a lot in the last couple of days. Both the devices have been leaked along with their specs and features. So we have some idea about the new devices. However as it is with any smartphone, before the official launch, leaks continue to pour in day after day. And now, details about one of HTC's handset Desire 12 has yet again been leaked on the web.

This time though, an image of the retail box of HTC Desire 12 has surfaced online further revealing some of the key specs of the upcoming device. The image has been obtained by Android Authority.

On closely observing the image, it seems HTC Desire 12 is coming with a 5.5-inch display with HD+ resolution (1440 x 720 pixels) and possibly 18:9 aspect ratio. The device seems to be powered by a quad-core MediaTek chipset which is paired with 3 GB RAM. The handset is offering 32 GB of internal storage and expandable up to 2TB via microSD card.

As for the cameras, there seems to be a single camera at the back with 12 MP sensor with features like phase-detection autofocus and 1080p video recording. Up front, the device will sport a 5MP BSI camera. The retail box also mentions 2730 mAh battery, 4G LTE, dual nano-SIM slots, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n and, Bluetooth.

In any case, HTC is yet to announce and confirm the existence of the smartphone officially. As of now, everything is based on leaks and it is quite a mystery. Previously, popular and reliable tipster Evan Blass via his twitter account had revealed details about HTC Desire 12. The device was said to be codenamed "Breeze" and that it would feature Android Oreo, 2GB RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera sensor, 8-megapixel front camera sensor, and 16GB onboard storage.

While a new launch is always exciting, it is still unclear as to when HTC Desire 12 will be unveiled or hit the stores and in which markets. As far as speculations go, the handset is expected to be priced at an affordable range and the device could arrive at the forthcoming MWC.

HTC could also probably launch the Desire 12 along the flagship U12 that is reported to be announced at a separate event after MWC 2018. So we might be looking at March or April.
