Huawei Honor confirm 9 smartphones will be upgraded to EMUI 8.0

Huawei's sub-brand Honor has now announced and officially confirmed that nine of its smartphone will be upgraded to the company's latest EMUI 8.0 firmware in the coming days. However, what's interesting here is that Honor has also included Honor 8 in the list of smartphones getting the update. Previously the company had said that the smartphone would not be upgraded to Oreo instead receive only important updates. So this might be it.

It is worth mentioning that while EMUI 8.0 is actually based on Android Oreo. However, Honor will be making some tweaks and adding some features to the new user interface for Honor 8. It might not be the full version as well. Basically, what will happen is that Honor 8's new UI will be based and it will look like EMUI 8.0, but it will not include Oreo. In any case, the smartphone will at least be running on the new EMUI.

The latest EMUI 8.0 which is Huawei's customized system launched in October 2017 is based on Android 8.0 and integrates some AI elements and comes with a lot of new features like voice assistant, intelligent split screen, Intelligent Resource Allocation, dynamic wallpaper, navigation bar customization along with quick file sharing capabilities and many more.

Earlier, Huawei R&D spokesperson while talking about the new EMUI version said, "The upgraded EMUI 8.0 is avant-garde technological software which is efficient, secure and above all, user-friendly. The update significantly cuts down on the number of steps needed to achieve the desired function through its smart applications like navigation dock and smart screen and enables the user to reach 90 percent of the core functions in just a single click. We have developed the EMUI 8.0 for those who live and work on-the-go he added. The EMUI is bound to give premium gaming and video viewing experience to the users claims the company."

As of now, Huawei Mate 10 and Honor View 10 models run the latest OS. But that will soon change. Here is the list of all Honor smartphones that have been confirmed to receive EMUI 8.0 in the coming months. The smartphones include Honor 7X, Honor 8, Honor V8, Honor Note 8, Honor 8 Lite, Honor 9, Honor 9 Lite, Honor V9, and Honor V10.

Notably, as mentioned above EMUI 8.0 doesn't necessarily mean these smartphones will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo. Some may only get only the customized skin with the new update. Meanwhile, Honor is yet to give a statement and probably things will be a bit clear. We will update you on the same once we get more information on what Huawei or Honor is planning.
