Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design Debuts Globally With Tri-Fold Display—Will It Launch in India?
Huawei has officially launched the Mate XT Ultimate Design, marking its entry into the tri-fold smartphone segment. This device, initially unveiled in China last year, is now available in select global markets, bringing a flexible 10.2-inch OLED display, premium build materials, and a robust camera system.
While the Mate XT Ultimate Design introduces a unique form factor, it also enters a market where foldable and rollable displays are gaining traction. Here's a closer look at what the device offers.

Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design: Display and Build
The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design features a multi-folding OLED screen, allowing users to switch between different sizes depending on usage needs:
- 6.4-inch display when fully folded (FHD+)
- 7.9-inch screen in half-folded mode (2K resolution)
- 10.2-inch display when fully unfolded (3K resolution)
This flexible LTPO OLED panel supports a 90Hz refresh rate, 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate for smooth interaction. Huawei claims that the display is made from multi-directional bending materials, increasing resistance to wear and tear by 25% compared to traditional foldables.
The composite ultra-tough laminated structure incorporates non-Newtonian fluid technology and UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass), which reportedly doubles the screen's impact resistance. When fully unfolded, the device is just 3.6mm thick, making it one of the thinnest foldable smartphones on the market.
Performance, Software, and Battery Life
Huawei has not officially revealed the global chipset variant, but the Chinese version is powered by the Kirin 9010 processor. The device ships with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of onboard storage, offering ample space for multitasking and storage-heavy applications.
Running on EMUI 14.2, the phone lacks Google services but includes Huawei's proprietary app ecosystem.
Battery performance is a key highlight, with Huawei integrating a 5,600mAh silicon-carbon battery that is only 1.9mm thick. Charging speeds are competitive, with:
- 66W wired fast charging
- 50W wireless charging
Camera System and Imaging Features
Huawei has equipped the Mate XT Ultimate Design with a triple rear camera system under its XMAGE imaging technology:
- 50MP primary sensor (1/1.56", OIS, variable aperture f/1.4-f/4.0)
- 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2 aperture)
- 12MP periscope telephoto lens (5.5x optical zoom, OIS, f/3.4 aperture)
For selfies and video calls, there is an 8MP front camera (f/2.2 aperture). With the variable aperture technology, users can adjust light intake dynamically, making the device suitable for low-light photography.
Durability, Connectivity, and Security
The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design is IPX8 rated, meaning it can withstand water exposure to a certain extent. The device includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric security.
Connectivity options include:
- 5G support (SA/NSA)
- Dual 4G VoLTE
- Wi-Fi 6
- Bluetooth 5.2 LE
- GPS (L1 + L5 dual-band), NavIC, NFC
- USB 3.1 Type-C (GEN1)
