Huawei has made a bold move by launching the Mate XT | Ultimate Design, the world's first commercially available tri-fold smartphone. This innovative device boasts a single, large OLED screen that folds twice, offering users three distinct modes:

• 6.4-inch phone mode: When fully folded, the Mate XT functions as a regular phone with a comfortable FHD+ display.
• 7.9-inch tablet mode: Partial unfolding expands the screen to a near-tablet size with a 2K resolution, ideal for productivity tasks.
• 10.2-inch tablet mode: Fully unfolded, the Mate XT transforms into a large 3K tablet, perfect for entertainment and creative workflows.

Innovative Design and Durability

The Mate XT's folding mechanism utilizes a single, flexible OLED screen with LTPO technology for smooth performance and power efficiency. This innovative design eliminates the need for a separate cover display found on most foldable phones.

Huawei claims to have employed cutting-edge materials and engineering to create a durable hinge that resists compression and tension while folded. The phone itself is just 3.6mm thin when fully unfolded, making it one of the slimmest smartphones on the market.

Performance and Software

While the specific processor remains unconfirmed, the Mate XT is expected to run on Huawei's in-house Kirin 9000S chip and ships with HarmonyOS 4.2. Packing 16GB of RAM and offering storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB, the Mate XT promises smooth performance for demanding users.

Camera and Battery

On the camera front, the Mate XT features a triple-lens rear system with a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide sensor, and a 12MP telephoto lens with 5.5x optical zoom. There's also an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.

Despite its thin profile, the Mate XT boasts a large 5600mAh silicon carbon battery, claimed to be the world's thinnest in a smartphone. This, coupled with 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, ensures the device can keep up with your needs.

Price and Availability

The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design is priced on the premium end of the spectrum. It comes in three configurations:

• 16GB + 256GB: ¥1,99,99 (~₹2,35,910)
• 16GB + 512GB: ¥2,19,99 (~₹2,59,500)
• 16GB + 1TB: ¥2,39,99 (~₹2,83,095)

The device is available in Black and Red color options and is currently available for pre-order in China, with official sales starting on September 20. However, availability outside of China has not been confirmed yet.
