Huawei P10 and P10 Plus Android 8.0 Oreo beta update released
This is a beta version and Huawei as of now is basically looking for beta testers to test the OS to ensure the compatibility of the latest Android update with the device.
Looks like Huawei and its sub-brand Honor are gearing up to release Android Oreo updates for several of their smartphones. Just this morning we reported that Honor has released Android Oreo beta update for Honor 9 Pro and now Huawei has stated that it is updating its 2017 flagships Huawei P10and P10 Plus to Oreo.
However, this is a beta version and Huawei as of now is basically looking for beta testers to test the OS to ensure the compatibility of the latest Android update with the device. Besides, the company has launched a beta testing program through which users can get the update for both the P10 and P10 Plus devices.
Interested people first need to join the beta program and then download a mobile app on their smartphones. The app will allow them to file their applications and receive the first OTA. The beta update will come in software versions: VTR-L09C432B180, VTR-L29C432B180, VKY-L09C432B181, and VKY-L29C432B181.
It is worth mentioning that installing a beta version can cause some issues on your device. Some of the issues that can arise include data fluctuations, Wi-Fi stops working amongst others. Before installing the update make sure to backup all the important data and files as well. More importantly, do not use this device as your primary smartphone with the beta version.
The beta testers will get a host of useful and cool new features with Android Oreo. Users will be experience features like smart text selection, Auto-fill, Picture-in-Picture, and a whole lot more. The update will likely also include a new AI assistant and improve battery life.
In any case, it's good to know that Huawei is working on bringing Oreo for its smartphones. While the software is currently in a testing phase and if goes accordingly to Huawei's plans then the P10 and P10 Plus users should hopefully get the much awaited 8.0 Oreo update by the end of February. The beta program is now live in Romania, but other countries might get it in the coming days.
Huawei has released Android Oreo updates for some of their products like the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro. The company is now focusing on other smartphones in its portfolio.
