Huawei P20 series of smartphones have lately been making rounds on the internet. Rumors have it, the smartphones will get unveiled on March 27. Confirming the rumors, Huawei has now sent out invites for a press conference that will take place on the same date at the Grand Palais in Paris, France. While the company hasn't revealed the exact purpose of the press conference, the clues on the invite clearly hints at the P20 series.
A sentence on the media invite reads, "SEE MOOORE WITH AI". Additionally, you can see the Eiffel tower super-imposed with three large "O" symbols in the background. Needless to say, the three "O"s suggest the presence of a triple camera setup on the upcoming Huawei P20 lineup of smartphones. As we already know, the P20 lineup will include the regular P20, P20 Plus and P20 Lite.
Triple rear cameras
All three smartphones from the Huawei P20 series are expected to come with a vertically stacked triple rear camera setup certified by Leica. Going by existing reports, there will be a massive 40MP Leica triple-lens camera setup with 5x hybrid zoom. The P20, P20 Plus, and P20 Lite are also said to be equipped with a 24MP selfie camera at the front.
With such an impressive camera department, the smartphones should be able to take DSLR-level pictures.
Under the hood
As suggested by the official invite as well as earlier leaks, the upcoming P20 series of smartphones will be powered by Huawei's own Hi-Silicon Kirin 970 processor. This chipset is also present on the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro smartphones.
Since the Kirin 970 SoC comes with neural-network processor unit (NPU), it can handle tasks related to AI and deep learning.
Codenames and color variants
Reliable tipster Roland Quandt recently revealed the smartphones' codenames as well as color options. According to him, Huawei P20 is codenamed "Emily" and it will be available in Ceramic Black and Twilight colors. Huawei P20 Plus is codenamed "Charlotte" and like the standard P20, it will also be available in Ceramic Black and Twilight colors.
Lastly, the Huawei P20 Lite is codenamed "Anne", and it will be offered in three colors which will include Midnight Black, Klein Blue, and Sakura Pink.
Android Oreo OS
All three smartphones of the Huawei P20 series will arrive pre-installed with Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. The P20 Lite variant is already listed on FCC with Android Oreo.
