Huawei's budget smartphone Y3 (2018) live images and specs leaked online

Looks like Huawei is gearing to launch a 2018 variant of Y3 ultra-budget smartphone that was announced last year. Just today, alleged live images as well specifications of the device has been leaked online. It also confirms the existence of the device. The device has appeared on benchmarking website Geekbench and the images have been revealed by SlashLeaks.

Talking about the images first, the budget handset has been shown in a series of different images that includes the handset build scheme and a live photo showing the device's rear part with the panel taken off.

The images show the device with a single camera, dedicated microSD card and a single SIM slot. But we can't make out much from the images. As for the specs, the handset has a model number CAG-L22. Huawei Y3 (2018) seems to feature decent specifications which include an entry-level MediaTek's MT6737 processor paired with 1GB of RAM. The device seems to come with 8GB of storage.

Further, the Geekbench listing reveals that the Huawei Y3 2018 edition features a display with a low resolution of 480×854 pixels. The device will be backed by a 2200mAh battery. Considering this specs for a moment, it seems Huawei Y3 2018 won't be a banger and there are better options available in the market. In any case, we believe that the price point could be a key factor in this case.

However, the most interesting thing about the listing is that the device is running Android 8.1 Oreo. And this could mean that this budget device could be one of the few devices that will come with the support for Project Treble. And running Oreo also means that the device can be updated to newer version of Android. Normally smartphones get more than two years of support. So this part is worth mentioning.

Currently, there is not much information about this device, and it is unclear when the company will actually launch the device. We are speculating the case. We will update you once we have more details on this case.

Meanwhile, the 2017 edition of the Huawei Y3 which was launched in the month of May came at a price of $80 (roughly Rs. 5,176). The new smartphone, if it is launched, should be priced around the same range.
