Huawei has been believed to be working on a new model of the Huawei P9 series smartphones that were launched recently. Prior to the announcement of the P9 and P9 Plus, rumors suggested another model named P9 Lite in the making, though details were sparse. Now the phone has passed through TENNA certification which reveals its details, and suggests its imminent launch.

Going by the last year's P8 Lite and the Lite in the name of the P9 Lite suggested that this phone would be toned down version of the flagship P9. However, according to the leaked information, it seems like the P9 Lite won't exactly be quite as lightweight as its moniker suggests. As given in the leaked information, the P9 Lite will be a metal-clad device with a full HD screen offering 1080p resolution, compressed for a 5.2-inch display. It will be powered by a 2GHz octa-core chipset paired with 3GB of RAM.

The major difference lies in the camera set up of the phone. While the P9 and P9 Plus featured dual camera set up on rear, Huawei has dropped that to place a sole 13MP primary shooter on the P9 Lite. Up front, there will be an 8MP snapper to take care of selfies. It will also feature a fingerprint sensor, placed just below the rear camera, for enhanced security of the phone. Speaking of software, the Huawei P9 Lite will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS topped with the company's own Emotion UI.

As far as its pricing is concerned, there still no information available as yet. However, considering that the P9 Lite has been spotted on various European e-stores for a pre-order cost equivalent to around $306 or Rs 20,300, it is expected that the launch of the device will happen sooner than later. While Huawei has still yet to officially take the wraps off the handset, TENAA certification has put much light on it already.
