IFA 2015: Huawei G8 now official, to go on sale later this month

    Huawei G8 was first showcased back in June, but at that time the company kept mum regarding the launch date of the device. However during the press event at IFA the company finally announced the G8 alongside the Mate S. The Huawei G8 is in fact scheduled to go on sale later this month.

    The Huawei G8 sports a 5.5-inch FHD (1080 x 1920) with a 64-bit, octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor (eight cores clocked at 1.5GHz each).

    Additionally the G8 features a fingerprint scanner on the back, just below its 13 MP rear camera which comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

    The device runs on Android Lollipop with Huawei's Emotion UI on top. The upper-mid-range device is made out of metal - much like most top tier Huawei devices in the market. Other features include a 5 MP front-facing camera, LTE connectivity, dual SIM support, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of expandable storage space, and a 3000 mAh battery.

    Initially the Huawei G8 will be released in a few of the company's European markets (including the UK, France, Spain, Germany and Italy). Plus as expected it will be launched in Australia and South East Asia too.

    The device will carry a retail box price of €399 (about $447), but it's highly likely that the selling price will be little lower. The G8 will be available for sale in three color variants namely - dark silver, gold, and white.
