In a bid to make an impact on the sales number American OEM, Infocus plans to launch an updated version of their budget offering M2. It's won't be a big upgrade from the previous generation though-as the main difference is the induction of 4G and a change in allegiance of SoC maker (Mediatek to Qualcomm)!

Infocus M2 4G to launch at Rs 5,499 on July 25th

The Infocus M2 previously came with a 4.2 inch HD (1280x720p) display, 1.3 GHz quad core Mediatek MT6582M and 1GB of RAM. Along with that there was a 8MP f2.2 rear and a whopping 8MP f2.2 (by budget standards) front snapper. The battery was a Li-Poly 2100 mah. It was a Snapdeal exclusive and sold at Rs 4,999. Despite being a new brand in the Indian smartphone market the M2 sold as per the company's expectation - mainly due to the competitive pricing and the Indian customer's inclination towards VFM products.

But post the launch of the Redmi 2 and the Yu Yuphoria the M2 is facing some stiff competition. Hence to create a leeway the company decided to add a 4G module and change the Mediatek processor with an improved Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC . All other specifications would be carried over from the M2 (3G).The major con of the M2 i.e. the Android version (Kitkat) is still not solved yet. And we doubt whether at all the device will receive a Lollipop update in near future.
