iOS 11.2.5 has a serious bug that can crash any Apple devices

Apple has admitted that its new iOS version 11.2.5 has a serious bug which is capable of crashing apps and Apple devices via iMessage. However, the Cupertino based company has stated that it is working on a fix for the bug.

The vulnerability was discovered earlier this week and involves sending an Indian language character (in Telugu) to devices that crashes an iPhone and further blocks access to apps like Messages, Facebook Messenger, Gmail, Outlook, and WhatsApp. Users who receive a message will no longer be able to open iMessage as the app will fail to load the character.

The only possible solution that users can try is to ask a friend to send a message and then delete that thread with the bad character. Hopefully, this will help users regaining access to their iMessages.

Meanwhile, Mobile World which is an Italian blog was the first to spot the bug, and according to The Verge after testing it on multiple iPhones running iOS 11.2.5, they also discovered that the bug affected the built-in Messages app on macOS and the Apple Watch.

"While iOS 11.3 fixes the problems, Apple said it is planning to release an iOS 11 update soon that will address the crashes before the iOS 11.3 release in the spring," The Verge reported late Thursday.
Whereas a Forbes report has stated that upon restarting the devices, users will be unable to open the Messages app, something which obviously has the potential for serious consequences.

While this sounds like a serious issue, hopefully, users will get the update that will fix this problem for good. Apple in the past has faced a lot of software issues and iOS crashing due to several links, videos, and characters.

Having said that, the tech giant has also announced last month that it is bringing a new firmware update for Apple devices. Besides, the upcoming Apple iOS11.3 update is expected to offer features that give users the power to control their batteries, Augmented Reality (AR) upgrade and Animoji.

"This spring, iOS 11.3 will deliver exciting new ways to experience Augmented Reality on iPhone and iPad, new Animoji on iPhone X and the ability to view health records in the Health app," Apple had said earlier.
