iOS 18 Elevates Satellite Connectivity on iPhones, You Can Now Text Without Internet

Apple's iOS 18 update brings satellite connectivity, ensuring iPhone users can stay connected even without internet or Wi-Fi. This feature was unveiled at the WWDC 2024 event, alongside other updates like the redesigned Photos App, Control Center, and Apple Intelligence.

Typically, sending SMS or making calls requires a signal. The satellite messaging feature now allows users to send messages through nearby satellites. This means that even in areas with no signal, such as mountain ranges or the middle of the sea, users can still communicate with friends and family over iMessage or SMS even without cellular or Wi-Fi service.

Users can send and receive regular texts and emojis through iMessage and SMS. Apple has also assured Messages sent over satellite are end-to-end encrypted. Notably, Messages via satellite will be available in iOS 18 along with existing satellite features in the United States on iPhone 14 and later.

This feature is handy for those who often find themselves in remote areas. Whether trekking in the mountains or travelling across seas, users can stay connected with friends and family. Moreover, iPhone users can now schedule a message and apply playful, animated effects to any letter, word, phrase, or emoji in iMessage.
