iOS 18 to Bring India-Centric Features; Indian Languages Support Live Voicemail Transcription, and More
Apple recently showcased the first beta of iOS 18 at WWDC 2024, which includes several AI features called Apple Intelligence and will be available later this year for models starting from the iPhone XR to the latest iPhone 15 Pro, covering all devices launched after 2018, with AI featured being limited to the iPhone 15 Pro series.
Apple has now confirmed that the iOS 18 update will incorporate several India-specific features, including support for numerals in 12 Indian languages, live voicemail transcription, and more.

Customization With Numerals Numbers and Languages
iPhone running iOS 18, will allow users to customize contact posters and lock screens using numerals from 12 Indian languages such as Arabic, Arabic Indic, Bangla, Devanagari, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Kannada, Malayalam, Meitei, Odia, Ol Chiki, and Telugu.
Live Voicemail Transcription in Indian English and Improved Dual SIM Support
iOS 18 will allow iPhone users to perform live voicemail transcription in Indian English and provide live caller ID support. In addition, there will be an improved Dual SIM Support, which will let users switch between their SIMs directly from the Control Center.
Siri and Translate App Enhancements
Siri will get a significant upgrade in iOS 18 with additional multilingual support for nine Indian regional languages and Indian English. Users can now interact with Siri using a combination of English and their local language for various tasks. Siri will also respond in Hindi to Hindi queries.
Moreover, the default keyboard on iOS 18 will let users type using Latin characters for English and two additional Indian languages. The keyboard will support QuickPath, Emoji Prediction, and automatic language switching based on prior conversations.
Other features will include Hindi support in the Translate app, alphabetical layouts for 11 Indian languages, and improved language search capabilities.
