iOS 27 Developer Beta 5 Is Out: Check How to Install, All New Features, and Supported iPhones
Apple has released the fifth developer beta of iOS 27, bringing a range of interface changes, performance improvements and bug fixes ahead of the operating system's public release. The latest build gives developers another opportunity to test applications, identify compatibility issues and optimise their software before iOS 27 rolls out to iPhone users.
The iOS 27 Developer Beta 5 is available for supported iPhone models, including the iPhone 11 series and newer devices, as well as the second-generation iPhone SE and later. Since this is pre-release software, Apple recommends backing up important data before installation.

iOS 27 Beta 5 Gets New Liquid Glass Icons
One of the most noticeable changes in iOS 27 beta 5 involves Apple's Liquid Glass interface. Several built-in app icons have received refreshed designs, including Safari, Siri, Settings, Remote, App Store and Preview.
Apple has also introduced a more transparent Liquid Glass appearance, giving certain interface elements a clearer and more layered look. The changes continue Apple's broader visual redesign introduced with iOS 27.
Siri Gets New Voice Controls
The latest beta also expands customisation options for Siri AI voices. Developers can adjust voice speed and tone across seven American and four British voice profiles.
However, some of these on-device voice processing features require newer hardware. Support is reportedly limited to devices such as the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air, while older iPhones do not support the same processing capabilities.
iOS 27 Search and System Apps Get Improvements
Apple has refined the system search interface, including smoother transitions and a new option to perform web searches directly from the search screen. Users can also control which apps appear in search results and adjust the number of recommended applications.
The Contacts app now shows a person's company directly beneath their name in list previews, while the same information can appear in system search results. The Clock app has received heavier typography for its Alarms and Timers sections.
Mail also gains additional controls for customising smart reply profiles.
Battery Settings Get More Detailed Information
The iOS 27 beta 5 update also improves battery monitoring. The Battery settings can now warn users when poor cellular reception is contributing to higher power consumption.
Apple has also added more precise software installation information to the About section, which could prove useful for developers troubleshooting performance and software issues.
How to Install iOS 27 Developer Beta 5
Developers enrolled in Apple's Developer Programme can install the update by opening Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and selecting the iOS 27 developer beta. Users can then download and install the latest build.
While iOS 27 beta 5 brings several useful refinements, it remains experimental software. Regular users should generally wait for the stable iOS 27 release rather than installing a developer beta on their primary iPhone.
