Recently, a woman in Shanxi experienced a terrifying incident when her iPhone 14 Pro Max exploded while charging. This unfortunate event resulted in severe burns to her hands and back. The explosion caused significant damage, with most of her quilt and the walls around her bed being charred black.

According to Shanxi TV station "Hui Bang Bang," the incident occurred at 06:30 AM. The phone caught fire, and as the woman turned over in bed, she accidentally touched it, resulting in immediate burns. The fire department's investigation concluded that a battery failure during charging was responsible for the fire.

Apple's Response to Safety Concerns

The affected iPhone 14 Pro Max was purchased in 2022. Apple customer service has assured users that they should not worry about warranty status. They advised sending the device back for analysis immediately. Apple emphasised their commitment to addressing safety issues promptly and thoroughly.

Such incidents are not isolated cases. In Guangdong, on July 21, a woman's phone exploded after she left it charging overnight. Similarly, on January 28, a couple in Xiangtan, Hunan Province faced a similar situation when their phone charger was left plugged in for an extended period, causing sparks that ignited their sofa.

These occurrences highlight the importance of safe practices when using electronic devices. Users are advised to avoid charging phones for prolonged periods, especially overnight or when leaving home. It's prudent to unplug chargers once devices are fully charged to prevent potential hazards.
