iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus will reportedly be manufactured in India by the Tata Group
Last year, Apple amped up production of newer iPhone models in India. As the company continues its campaign to reduce its reliance on China, new reports have emerged that the upcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be made in India by the Tata Group.
According to reporting by TrendForce, Apple will partner with the Tata Group to assemble the iPhone 15 series in India. The report states that Tata has received orders for iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, indicating that India will become the first wave of shipments for new iPhone series.

Tata Group to Assemble iPhone 15 series in India
This will also make the Tata Group the fourth contract manufacturer for Apple, following Foxconn, Pegatron, and Luxshare. The Tata Group has reportedly acquired Wistron's iPhone plant, Apple's previous contractor in India, which has now led to India's largest conglomerate manufacturing the iPhone 15 series.
Wistron plans to exit from the iPhone assembly business in India. And since the Tata Group plans to buyout Wistron's iPhone plant, it will become the new contract partner for iPhone manufacturing in India.

However, the report also notes that the Tata Group will only be responsible for assembling a tiny chunk of the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus for Apple in India. India's largest conglomerate will only assemble 5 percent of Apple's 2023 iPhones.
Foxconn will continue to account for the vast majority of iPhones 15 models produced in 2023 at nearly 70 percent. Furthermore, Luxshare will account for 25 percent of all iPhone 15 models in 2023 and Pegatron will manufacture both iPhone 15 Plus (35 percent) and iPhone 15 Pro (30 precent) models.
Apple has continued to reiterate the importance of India and its growth in the smartphone manufacturing sector. India is the world's second-largest smartphone market and Apple saw considerable growth in the country's premium segment last year. Apple also recently opened its first physical stores in India in BKC, Mumbai and Saket, New Delhi.
