iPhone 16e Launched in India with Considerable Upgrades Over iPhone SE 2022: Check Price, Specs, Availability

The iPhone 16e has officially been unveiled in India and globally as the fifth member in the iPhone 16 series. The launch of the iPhone 16e marks Apple departure from the 'iPhone SE' branding.

The iPhone 16e arrives with several upgrades over the last iPhone SE (2022), including a new OLED display, an extremely powerful A18 chipset, an upgraded 48MP primary camera, Apple Intelligence, and an updated design.

iPhone 16e Price and Availability in India

The iPhone 16e price in India starts at Rs. 59,900 for the base model with 128GB storage. Moreover, the iPhone 16e also comes in a 25GB and 512GB configuration that will set you back Rs 69,900 and Rs 89,900, respectively.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 16e begin on February 21, with sales commencing on February 28. The handset will be offered in Black and White shades. Apple is also selling a silicone case for the iPhone 16e for Rs 3,900.

Apple has introduced the iPhone 16e, the latest Special Edition (SE) model, featuring a larger 6.1-inch OLED display and a powerful A18 chip. This new model succeeds the 2022 version with significant upgrades, including Apple Intelligence features like those in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series. It also comes with the new Action Button to access features on the fly.

The iPhone 16e operates on iOS 18 and will get the standard five years of software and security updates. The latest iteration of the iPhone SE sports a Super Retina XDR OLED screen measuring 6.1 inches with a resolution of 1,170 x 2,532 pixels. The display offers a refresh rate of 60Hz and peak brightness of 800 nits, enhanced by Apple's Ceramic Shield for durability.

Powered by the advanced A18 chip built on a 3nm process, the iPhone 16e supports up to 512GB storage capacity. Although Apple hasn't disclosed RAM details, it likely includes 8GB to support its AI features. The iPhone 16e also incorporates Face ID sensors instead of Touch ID. The iPhone 16e's camera setup includes a single 48MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a 12 MP front-facing TrueDepth camera of for selfies and video calls.

Connectivity options encompass stereo speakers, along with support for 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS. A notable change from its predecessor is the inclusion of a USB Type-C port that facilitates both wired charging at up to 18W and wireless charging at up to 7.5W. While battery specifics remain undisclosed by Apple, they are expected to surface through teardowns soon.

The iPhone 16e measures approximately 146.7mm x71.5mm x7.8mm and weighs around 167 grams. It carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, ensuring robust protection against environmental elements.
